The Magic of 3rd Street

I spend a lot of time in San Francisco with my family and friends. It’s one of my favorite places to go. One of my go to places is 3rd street. For me, this is like a magic queendom of world class art and food.

Oh! The Places I Go

There are lots of cool places on 3rd street. Jessie Square is a quiet place to have a sandwich from Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen and visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum. The Museum offers works from Jewish artist and a gift shop. Across the street is the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Gardens. The gardens host outdoor art and a waterfall. Across the street from there is the Holy Grail, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). After a day of art, Oren’s Hummus Mediterranean restaurant is just the ticket! And don’t stop with these places! Explore and find your own places to go.

3rd Street Abstract Painting

This painting expresses how I experience the colorful and vibrant 3rd street. It can be a little hectic but in the chaos are hidden treasures. The painting showcases all the wonder this street has to offer.

The Color Blue

There is a lot of blue in the painting. Blue embodies the tall buildings. It’s from their roof tops that you can see the blue bay as the boats come and go. And then there is the blue skies if the fog isn’t rolling in.

Hot Colors

I love the big bold red lines that mark the busy street traffic of cars and people and so I incorporated them at the top of the painting. On the day this painting was done, MOMA had a red sculpture that reminded me of a lobster person. The Paper, Rock and Scissor sculpture is also depicted in the painting. See if you can find it in its abstract form! The color yellow is for sunny days but also for the joy and happiness art museums bring me and others.

Green Spaces

3rd street has a few green spaces from little parks to the Living Wall at MOMA. San Francisco has many green spaces and that’s really impressive for a 7×7 mile city.

On the Canvas

I love how all the shapes, lines and colors come together on the canvas. A vibrant, colorful and artistic street in the little city of San Francisco. If happen to visit there, I hope you will spend some time on 3rd street and take in all the colors, shapes and lines!
